This hinges on the false premise that astrology should be based around whatever is the center of gravity in a large system. because we now know that the Sun orbits the center of the galaxy. It's like saying we should use the center of the galaxy instead of the earth or the Sun. Saying that we should use heliocentric just because we know that the earth revolves around the Sun and claiming that this is somehow more scientific is baseless. And this system has been used and tested rigorously for thousands of years. We use geocentric because we are geocentric. Most people using charts are not occultists, and if they are, they already know this stuff. but a good chunk of that has to do with accessing the birth moment through the Law of Sympathy. It may matter for an occultist or an alchemist. Most astrologers are not using charts as psychic keys, and psychics who can do this can compensate with a “fuzzier” chart. In most readings, you don’t need this level of accuracy. (Costars cooked up their own ephemeris from JPL they give out random fortune cookie prober anyways). The Swiss ephemeris takes the JPL numbers and changes them to apparent locations, taking things like relativistic effects and gravitational lensing into account. You need a really good ephemeris such asthe Swiss Ephemeris (developed for ) - and not ephemeris like the JPL ones. If one were to use an astrology chart to psychically key into the energy of the native, topocentric is more precise.īut it also depends on having accurate birth time and birth place.
